The wire material was drawn in several steps from 8,00 mm
to 3,00 mm. Between the individual drawing events a solution annealing was carried
out. The first transverse cracks then probably have appeared on the material surface
at one of the last drawing steps due to material overload. An available drawing
agent in the bursts then has led to the local carburized areas by the following
solution annealing. The surface has completely burst at the last drawing step and
has then looked scaly.
